Construction and working principle
A connecting rod usually consists of three parts: a small head, a shaft, and a large head. The small head is connected to the piston pin, and the rod body is often designed with an I-shaped cross-section to enhance strength and stiffness while reducing weight. The large end is connected to the crankshaft's crank pin, usually using a split design, fastened by connecting rod caps and connecting rod bolts.
